First Line Fridays: Just Let Go by Courtney Walsh

FirstLineFridays

Hello and good  morning!

Welcome to First Line Fridays, hosted by Hoarding Books!

How are you guys doing today? I’m finding myself having taken too many books on to reive this month so I’m buried in books and trying not to feel overwhelmed. But hey, it goes perfectly well with rainy days so I’m not complaining.

I also found out I liked squash this week. I never liked squash so I’m not sure what changed. I even asked my mom for some for lunch today so there must be something wrong with me. LOL.

Anywho, time to share this week’s first line.

The book I’m featuring is:

There’s just something beautiful about summertime and the beach. I love to lay out on the beach and read while getting a tan. There is just something calming, relaxing, and soothing about reading a good book on the beach.

For today’s Top Ten Tuesdays, I’m sharing about my summer TBR for the beach! Here is what mine looks like. I’m hoping to read all of them before summer ends. Wish me luck! Continue reading

Best Fictional Dads

best fictional dads

Normally I don’t post on the weekends, especially on Sundays, but today I’d like to try something for each of the fun holidays. Today I’d like to take some time to honor each and every father. They are the ones who fix everything, love and cherish us, have our backs no matter what, and are the people that we are proud to call Dads.

But most importantly, I’m thankful for our Heavenly Father Above who sent His One and Only Son on the Cross to die for our sins. Who keeps chasing after us and loving us despite how much we stray from Him and want to do our own thing.

Happy Father’s Day!

Since today is all about father’s, I scoured my bookshelves high and low for some of my favorite fictional fathers.

Ready?

Top Ten Tuesday: DNFed Books

top ten tuesday

Hello and welcome to Top Ten Tuesdays hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl!

This is a topic that is highly debated about which really made me think about why I don’t usually DNF books. Every now and then I make myself DNF a book though.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with what DNF means, it means “Did Not Finish.” So basically it is any book that you have started reading part way through and not finish it.

I think part of the reason why I rarely DNF a book is because no matter how much a book doesn’t capture my attention, I have to know if it gets any better and see how it ends. I feel like DNFing a book means I’m leaving a book unread and therefore I feel guilty. Most books that I’m just not enjoying I can usually push through, but there are some books that I just can’t do it with.

When I DNF a book, the content or the writing has to be pretty bad. Otherwise, I will always finish the book.

That’s what we’re discussing today.

Here are some of the books that I’ve DNFed over the years.

First Line Fridays: No One Ever Asked by Katie Ganshert

FirstLineFridays

Hello and good morning!

Welcome to First Line Fridays, hosted by Hoarding Books!

Happy belated Memorial Day! I hope everyone’s day was splendid. The rain held out for a good part of the day which allowed me to be able to spend the day at SeaWorld with my family. They have a super cool deal going on for veterans right now. Veterans can go to the parks for FREE as well as up to three guests until July fourth. Busch Gardens has the same deal going on right now too.

On a side note, it has been raining every single day for over two weeks and I really miss the sun. I apologize for not participating in last week’s First Line Fridays. Every time I would go to write the post, a thunderstorm would happen and I don’t trust keeping my computer plugged in while a storm is happening.  It was the perfect weather to curl up with a good book or two so I accomplished finishing a lot of books this week though.

In fact, the book I’m featuring this week is one that I’ve recently finished.

Bookish worlds I'd Never Want To Live in

Hello and welcome to Top Ten Tuesdays hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl!

Books can literally take readers anywhere in the world they want to travel, even fictional worlds. Many like Hogwarts and Middle Earth many would love to actually be able to visit. Yet, there are some that we may enjoy reading about, but would never actually want to live there. That’s what today’s topic is about.

Here are some of the worlds I wouldn’t ever want to live in.

Disclaimer: Some of these may not be completely family friendly due to some violence found in some books.

Top Five Tuesdays: Books I Disliked But Am Glad I Read

Hello and welcome to Top Ten Tuesdays hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl!

You’ve picked up that popular book that everyone is raving about, but you thought it was awful. However, you can’t completely hate it because you also found yourself glad that you read it at the same time?

Rarely does this happen to me because I have a habit of choosing books that I know ahead of time that I will enjoy ahead of time. However, this happens from time to time. There are books that my close friends will rave about but I can still have discussions about it even I didn’t like it.

Here are some of the book that I disliked, but I’m glad that I read.
