We live in a world where heartache and discouragement can create hopelessness. The Shock of the Night is a must read for any fantasy lover. Professionally written, full of creativity, fantasy and adventure, will make you feel as if you entered a completely different world. It is deep, dark, and downright depressing at times, but it is an enjoyable read nonetheless.

For example, the book is heavily set on gifts or talents that God (also known as Aer in their world) gives. There are gifts or talents for almost everything ranging from musical, the ability to design, swordsmanship, and so on.

When I first received this book to review, I wasn’t sure what to think. It wasn’t something that would normally interest me. John Grisham is endorsing this novel so I figured I would go ahead and give it a try. I’m glad I did because I had trouble putting it down!

Corban Addison did a fantastic job. His extensive knowledge and research shines through in this tale of loss, devotion, forgiveness, and compassion. I definitely will be reading more from him in the future!
