We live in a world where heartache and discouragement can create hopelessness. But when we find hope, we can overcome whatever it may be that is troubling us. Lee Strobel explains that real hope is so much more than just wishful thinking, blind optimism, or hopeful dreams. Hope is found in Jesus Christ. This hope gives us an overriding confidence, that no matter what comes our way, God is with us and is greater than any challenge that we may go through.

The Shock of the Night is a must read for any fantasy lover. Professionally written, full of creativity, fantasy and adventure, will make you feel as if you entered a completely different world. It is deep, dark, and downright depressing at times, but it is an enjoyable read nonetheless.
Although not exactly considered a Christian Fiction novel as it is a world where God does not seem to exist, there are some elements. For example, the book is heavily set on gifts or talents that God (also known as Aer in their world) gives. There are gifts or talents for almost everything ranging from musical, the ability to design, swordsmanship, and so on.

When I first received this book to review, I wasn’t sure what to think. It wasn’t something that would normally interest me. John Grisham is endorsing this novel so I figured I would go ahead and give it a try. I’m glad I did because I had trouble putting it down!
Corban Addison did a fantastic job. His extensive knowledge and research shine through in this tale of loss, devotion, forgiveness, and compassion. I definitely will be reading more from him in the future!
