About the Book:

Bear McKinley’s past refuses to let go.

Ten years ago, Bear gave up everything—his freedom and his reputation—for his mess of a family. But after years of distance and too many attempts at starting over, he finally has a new life doing noble work in Brazil . . . until his past catches up to him once again. Suddenly he finds himself back in Maple Valley, charged with the care of his missing brother’s children, convinced he’s out of second chances to make his life count. And yet, with every day that passes, these kids, this quirky town and the woman he never stopped missing help patch the holes in his heart. Maybe this is the fresh start he’s been longing for all along. But as his newfound hope grows, so does the mystery surrounding his brother’s activities—and when the threat reaches into the lives of those he loves, it’s clear he can’t run away this time. Jilted was a beautiful conclusion to the Mended Hearts series. It was wonderful to revisit all of the folks in smalltown, Trapp, Texas.

Lynda Turner finally has her story told from her perspective. She has struggled with depression ever her husband had abandoned her and their young daughter fifteen years ago. Her character is very real that many readers will be able to relate to. She’s been through so much during her that she hasn’t truly lived it.

The Red Door Inn is stunning and beautifully written. This is my first read by this author and I was impressed. Prince Edward Island is what captured me from the beginning. If you’re familiar with Anne of Green Gables, you’ll completely understand why this is exciting. In fact, I love Anne of Green of Gables so much that I didn’t even bother to read what the rest of this book was about before picking it up. Let’s just say, it doesn’t disappoint!

You’re the One That I Want is Susan May Warren’s sixth and last novel of the Christiansen family series. This time Owen and his older brother Casper play the starring role.

Owen Christiansen had it all. He was a hockey player in the NHL for the St. Paul Blue Ox until it had all forfeited when he got injured. He leaves his home of Minnesota and moves to Alaska where he lands a job as crab fisherman. In his mind he believes this could be a fresh start and perhaps a shot at romance with Elise “Scotty” McFlynn, who also just so happens to be the captain’s daughter.

Scotty is used to being one of the guys with her tough girl attitude, making everyone respond with “yes, sir”. She doesn’t believe in happily ever after – especially with someone like Owen. When Casper Christiansen drags his brother home and unloading a ton of family drama, Scotty’s opinion of Owen is confirmed. What’s even worse is that Casper is wanted for questioning to a crime back home in Minnesota.

I am super excited to be able to talk about this particular book. I don’t really watch Duck Dynasty, but I do love what they stand for. It was really neat to read Jep and Jessica’s story, especially since they are the least known about in the family, having only appeared on the show since season four. Readers will love this read because it’s as if you are in one of their backyard bonfires and they’re personal friends.
