About the Book:
After first teaching women to go deeper in their study of the Bible in Women of the Word, and then unpacking why our limits are a good thing in light of God’s limitlessness in None Like Him, best-selling author and Bible teacher Jen Wilkin helps readers see what human beings are to be like as they reflect the image of their Creator. In His Image explores 10 attributes of God that Christians are called to reflect—they are called to be holy, loving, just, good, merciful, gracious, faithful, patient, truthful, and wise. This book calls readers to discover the freedom and purpose in becoming all that God made them to be.
“In His Image” was the first book that I’ve read from Jen Wilkin and it most definitely will not be my last. God has many attributes, but this book solely focuses on ten incommunicable attributes of God that we can learn to reflect Him in our personal lives. These attributes include God as holy, loving, good, just, merciful, gracious, faithful, patient, truthful, and wise.
Each chapter focuses on a different attribute. The author’s research and sound theology shine throughout as she explains what each attribute means and how we can personally apply it to our lives. The author also includes verses to meditate on that fit each theme as well as questions for reflection. These questions were appropriate and help take the topics further. Jen Wilkin is convicting, challenging, and inspiring at the same time.
I’m currently working through this book with the ladies in my life group so I highly recommend it for small groups. I would also recommend it for individual study as it can easily be used as a devotional.
Overall, I really enjoyed this and look forward to reading more from Jen Wilkin in the future. Highly recommended!
