Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read for Independence Day

Hello and welcome to Top Ten Tuesdays hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl!

Happy Tuesday! The original theme is to pick covers that are red, white, and blue in honor of Independence Day tomorrow, but I thought we would have some fun by sharing books to read for this holiday.

Revolutionary War

Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres because they will transport you to a time in history where you can learn about the history and culture through a character who is living in that time’s eyes. Here are some books that take place during the Revolutionary War.

The Love Letter

Characters Who Served In The Military

While these don’t necessarily have anything to do with Independence Day, these all contain characters who are either serving in the military or have served. Independence Day is all about the day we won our Independence and became America where are celebrating our freedom. Without the many men and women who are sacrificing their lives for the freedom we have, we wouldn’t be free. That’s why I’m honoring them in this post. There are so many more to add to this list, but these are some of my favorites.

Ronie Kendig writes a bunch of military fiction as well so I highly recommend her if you enjoy reading those. Sarah Sundin also has many more novels that surround the military, mostly set in WWII.

And that’s a wrap! What are some of your favorites that you’d add to this list? Let me know in the comments below.

Have a wonderful and safe Independene Day tomorrow!
