First Line Fridays: Risen by Angela Hunt

FirstLineFridays

Hello and welcome to First Line Fridays, hosted by Hoarding Books!!!

Fridays are my favorite day of the week because I get to see the first lines of all your books! I love seeing some books that I’ve personally enjoyed and even some new ones to add to my TBR.

Since Easter weekend is coming up, I’m featuring an Easter themed book about the resurrection this week.

The book I’m featuring is:

Risen by Angela Hunt

27066723

This is based on the film, Risen, about a Tribune who has to deal with figuring out what happened to the body after Jesus Christ resurrected from the dead. Check out my full review here.

And the first line is:

Clavius

Under Tibererius Caesar, Rome’s armies controlled a vast empire -from Britannia in the the north to Aegyptus in the south, from Mauritania Tingitana in the west to Mesopotamia in the east. But no post was less desired than the wasteland of Judea.

Let me know your first line in the comments & then head over to Hoarding Books to see who else is participating! Join us too!

  1. Happy Friday!

My FLF comes from a book I’m reading now, Only Yours by Susan Mallery….

MONTANA HENDRIX’S perfectly good morning was thwarted by a hot dog, a four-year-old boy and a Lab and golden retriever mix named Fluffy.

Have a great weekend and happy reading!😀

My FLF is from a book I just finished reading last night. It’s With You Always by Jody Hedlund.
“Elise Neumann stared out the cracked third-story window to the muddy street below, watching the omnibuses and carriages slog their way through the muck”
Hope you have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

  3. Happy Friday! The book I’m featuring on my blog this week is Love on the Mend by Karen Witemeyer. I love all the books I’ve read of hers. Here, I will share the first line of chapter 17 from the book I’m currently reading, The Social Tutor by Sally Britton. “Thomas waited for her arrival, this time on Christine’s side of the brook, his breath turning to fog in the cold air.” Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

  4. I’m sharing the first two lines from A Most Noble Heir by Susan Anne Mason on my blog today. Here, I will post the first line from the novel I’m currently reading, Beneath the Surface by Lynn H. Blackburn.

“Homicide investigator Ryan Parker flashed a thumbs-up to his dive buddy and fellow homicide investigator, Gabe Chavez.”

Let me tell you, that thumbs-up quickly becomes a thumbs-down!!! This book is really gripping. I can’t figure it out!!!

    Happy Friday.

  5. I LOVED that movie!!! I’m sure the book adaptation is wonderful, too.

I shared the first line of Finding Evergreen by Jennifer Rodewald today, my current read. Here are a couple lines from chapter 3 of the same book: “Heat swirled through the kitchen, almost to the degree that it continued burning in Ethan’s chest. Sleep hadn’t overtaken his storming emotions the night before.”

  6. I’ve seen the movie Risen twice and I have the audio version. Must read it soon. I’ve just spotted one thing in the First Line though- a mistake!

Britain or Britannia was not absorbed into the Roman Empire until the 60s AD, under the Emperor Claudius, about 30 years after the Crucifixion and Resurrection.
