Top Ten Tuesdays: Favorite Book Quotes

Top Ten Tuesdays is a meme that was started by The Broke and the Bookish in 2010 and has been moved to The Artsy Reader Girl in 2018.

Book quotes are one the best parts when it comes to reading. There are so many to choose from so I had a hard time narrowing it down. Here are just a few of my favorites. Many of these quotes also happen to be about books! What’s not to love?

“My child, the troubles and temptations of your life are beginning, and may be many; but you can overcome and outlive them all if you learn to feel the strength and tenderness of your Heavenly Father as you do that of your earthly one. The more you love and trust Him, the nearer you will feel to Him, and the less you will depend on human power and wisdom. His love and care never tire or change, can never be taken from you, but may become the source of lifelong peace, happiness, and strength. Believe this heartily, and go to God with all your little cares, and hopes, and sins, and sorrows, as freely and confidingly as you come to your mother.”
―Louisa May Alcott, Little Women

“Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It’s splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world.”
― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

“Friendship … is born at the moment when one man says to another “What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .”
― C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

“The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.”
― Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey

“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn’t happen much, though.”
― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! — When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”
― Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

“Books are my friends, my companions. They make me laugh and cry and find meaning in life.”
― Christopher Paolini, Eragon

“I vill eat nine Snikuhs bahs visout bahfing”
― James Patterson, Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports

“If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more.”
― Jane Austen, Emma

“Mr. Knightley, if I have not spoken, it is because I am afraid I will awaken myself from this dream.”
― Jane Austen, Emma

“You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever.”
― Jane Austen, Persuasion

So those are just a few of my favorites. What are some of your favorite book quotes? (They don’t have to be about books like most of mine.) Let me know in the comments below!
