Blogger Spotlight: Mary from The Mary Reader

Blogger Spotlight_

Good Morning, Loves!

One of my goals this year is to become serious about supporting and encouraging fellow Christian Fiction bloggers/reviewers. So I’ve decided that at least once a month, I’m going to do a blogger spotlight. This is your chance to learn about some amazing bloggers that you may find yourself wanting to follow.

This Month’s Spotlight Is:

Mary from The Mary Reader

My Blog is all about clean books and movies and great CDs. I love sharing my passion for books, music, and movies with others. I love my blog followers and I want them to enjoy my blog, so most all of the reviews are giveaways. I have no room to keep all the books and movies and CD’s so I love sharing with those who take the time to come over and visit with me.

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I LOVE to get away with a super book. I love to cook and bake and spend time with my friends. I have the best Yorkies in the world, they love to lay with me while I am reading. The Lord is everything to me. I have an awesome husband! A small fact about me: I never leave home without a book! Come on in and sit down with me and let’s talk about books and have a virtual cup of tea or in my case Hot Chocolate together.

Becky: Hello Mary! Thank you so much for joining me on the blog today. How long have you been reviewing and how did you decide on your theme for the blog?

Mary: I have had my blog since 2012, and I have come a long way since then.

B: What’s your favorite part of a being a reviewer?

M: Well let’s see I have two favorites, One is that I get all the great books I want to read by all of my favorite authors. Number two is that I get the chance to share all of the authors work with the world. I get to tell what I loved about each book and what I did not agree with so that readers will get an idea if that is what they would enjoy reading. Sharing a great book is sometimes like sharing my best friend with the world. I love that.

B: What would you say is one of the hardest parts of the job?

M: Oh boy, that would be writing a bad review, I hate to do it, it hurts me as much as the author. Sometimes you have to tell about a book that was not edited, or about sex, or bad language.  Sometimes the story does not flow well.  I hate to put down an author’s book, that’s their baby and I can’t stand hurting their feelings.

B: What keeps you busy and entertained when you’re not reviewing?

M: I read every day so when I take a little time away from a book. I love to cook and bake. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I clean every day. I have two Yorkies that entertain me. I love going to our local used bookstore, Dog-Eared books, where ALL of the books are $1.00 each.   I could spend hours in there. On top of that, I love spending time with my best friend, Umm we always meet at Dog –Eared and shop for books together.

B: What book are you reading right now?35488764

M: I am just about to finish The Mayflower Bride By Kimberley Woodhouse.

B: Who would you say your favorite fictional character is? If you could spend the day with him/her, what would you do?

M: This is way too hard a question. I have too many so it’s hard to say. Let me think. I just finished Under a Cloudless Sky by Chris Fabry and I LOVED Ruby and Bean so I would say I would spend the day with those two kids and we would explore the hills of West Virginia together.

B: What is your favorite fictional genre?

M: Contemporary Romance hands down the best.

B: What kind of advice would you offer to new reviewers?

M: Go into blogging and reviewing with an open mind. It’s all about doing what you love and sharing it with others who love to read so just HAVE FUN.

B: Bloggers and reviewers take so much time impacting the publishing world in a big way. Thank you so much for all you do and thank you for indulging me, Mary!
