Tuesday Talks: Do You Read Only One Genre or Do You Read Several?

Today’s topic is: Do you only read one genre or do you read several?

I read several different genres because I love a broad range of different books. I read mostly Christian Fiction, but I will branch out into YA or something that isn’t. I am a huge fan of clean romance, fantasy, paranormal (but not horror), historical fiction, science-fiction. Literally almost anything except trashy romance novels, westerns, or books that contain questionable morals or explicit violence and cursing. I also enjoy non-fiction every now and then. While fiction is fun and you can learn a lot through it, but you can get learn more and gain a different perspective through a book that focuses on facts and such. I’m currently reading Grace is Greater by Kyle Idleman which is all about grace and isn’t just another theology book. I’m learning a ton from him.

Now it’s your turn. Do you read only one genre or do you read several? Which genres do you read? I can’t wait to hear your answers!

  1. I read whatever strikes me as interesting, but I gravitate mostly to historical fiction and SFF. I’ve rediscovered Christian fiction in the past year or two and I love it, though I don’t read it exclusively. I tend to read a lot of books written for adults but I’m mostly interested in a good story well told, regardless of genre or target audience (I love a good picture book!).

    • I’m the same way! I’ll read just about any genre as long as it looks interesting. I enjoy some YA and middle grade books even though I am 25. And picture books can be fun and relaxing, especially when you need something light. 😄

  2. Great post and question! I read several genres! I especially enjoy inspirational historical romances, but I also love contemporaries. With the occasional foray into Young Adult fiction. And since I got married last June, I’ve come to love nonfiction books about marriage and relationships, too. 🙂
