Series: A Royal Wedding Series, Book 4
I’ve been wanting to read this series for awhile because I love anything to with princesses and romance. So with that being said, “A Royal Christmas Wedding” is the first novel I have read by Rachel Hauck. While this is the conclusion of the A Royal Wedding Series, you do not have to read the books in order. Although, I will definitely have to read the previous three because I LOVED this!
Prince Colin and Avery Truitt fell in love five years ago but fell apart when Colin suddenly stopped communicating with her. Avery has convinced herself that she is over him but finds herself spending Christmas with her pregnant older sister which happens to be the heart of his hometown. Will she seeing him again bring her the closure she needs or will they end up rekindling their love for one another?
This novel was so romantic! I can’t think of anything more romantic than the tradition of ringing the bell to declare your intentions of marriage. It was even more entertaining that it was a “God thing” (the ringing of the bell) that pushed Colin to do the right thing. Colin has a strong faith but he struggles when it comes to his earthly father. His father was a dislikeable character so I am still struggling with how his random turnaround happened, but I am glad it did.
Avery has been through so much this year. She’s already grieving the loss of her father and trying to figure out her future but now Colin is thrown back into the mix. Despite the fact that she’s hurt about how he cut her off, she is determined to find closure and find out what really happened. Avery is a fun character who doesn’t need a man to support her. She doesn’t let her volleyball injury stop her from seeking a job and she’s supportive of her sister and mother. Like Colin, she too has a strong faith in God but struggles with doubt and trust when it comes to Colin. Will he be able to win her heart again?
Speaking of faith, Rachel Hauck shows how God works in the lives of Prince Colin and Avery. There wasn’t a moment in the book where she didn’t give God credit and she explained the gospel beautifully.
I wish that Cathedral City were real. The town sounds like such a beautiful and magical place that I would totally want to visit! I felt like I was actually there seeing Old Towne with the characters. I wish we had festivities like the ones described in the book here in America!
“A Royal Christmas Wedding” is a cute, cheesy, and beautiful romance novel that ought to be a Hallmark movie. It’s perfect for Christmastime.
