Series: Prince Edward Island Dreams, Book 1
The Red Door Inn is stunning and beautifully written. This is my first read by this author and I was impressed. Prince Edward Island is what captured me from the beginning. If you’re familiar with Anne of Green Gables, you’ll completely understand why this is exciting. In fact, I love Anne of Green of Gables so much that I didn’t even bother to read what the rest of this book was about before picking it up. Let’s just say, it doesn’t disappoint!
Johnson captures the beautiful and unique culture of the island as if one were actually there. Seriously, the ocean breeze and the waves were so realistic. The characters were as memorable as those in Anne of Green Gables. Looking forward to this new amazing series.
It is a story of broken people who are desperate for a safe sanctuary to call their own. Marie Carrington is on the run from a series of bad memories and is enlisted to help decorate a renovated-bed-and-breakfast before it opens. Seth Sloane had come to help his Uncle Jack restore the Old Victorian and to forget about the fiancé that broke his heart. He struggles with trusting Marie and is confused about why she jumps every time he so much as brushes past her. The only thing Marie and Seth agree on is that getting the Red Door Inn ready to open in just three months will take everything they’ve got. Can these two wounded souls find hope, healing, and perhaps a bit of romance on this beautiful island?
The Red Door Inn is a beautiful and lovely home that I wish it was real. It’s the kind of place that I long to visit. It’s where the wounded come to heal, the broken find forgiveness, and the lonely find a family.
I love not only Marie and Seth, but Jack, Aretha, and Caden as well. They’re a huge part of the story. The humor and banter throughout the story were also enjoyable. I found some of their banter to be quite entertaining because they’re both just so darn stubborn. Oh and the romance is so adorable! Sigh.
I love this novel so much that it’s going to be a keeper on my shelf for years to come. I highly recommend it to any Katie Ganshert, Susan May Warren, Robin Lee Hatcher, Becky Wade, and Melissa Tagg fans.
