Oh my! Where do I even begin? Undaunted Hope is exactly what fans have been waiting for!
We last saw Tessa Taylor in Windmill Point, Michigan with a tarnished reputation. It’s now five years later and we find her living in Eagle Harbor, Michigan, running from the mistakes of her past. Eagle Harbor is the uppermost part of Michigan where Tessa plans to be the new schoolteacher for the children of the miners. Even though they were expecting a male teacher, Percival Updegraff, superintendent and chief mine clerk, allows her to stay through the winter since it’s too late to find someone else to replace her.
In Tessa’s desire to prove herself worthy of keeping, she throws herself into her work maneuvering around the many obstacles. Two students decide that Miss Taylor is the right match for their widowed father. If that isn’t enough of a struggle, the assistant lightkeeper Alex Bjorklund also makes his interest in her known. This surprises and even scares Tessa because she has never had two brothers fight over her before. But what is this eerie feeling that feels as if every move she makes is being watched? Will Tessa be able to escape from the trap set out for her and help save the townspeople?
Jody Hedlund’s love for storytelling and thoroughly researched shines in this novel. Tessa is broken, hurting and wonders if she’ll ever be able to let go of her past and be fully forgiven. Her character is very real and many others will be able to relate to her. It’s also a story of faith and God uses many ironies in her story to draw her closer to Him.
This is the kind of book that will cause readers to turn the pages until it’s completely over. It’s that good! Hedlund knows how to keep you on your toes! Be prepared to laugh and cry.
This not the end of the Beacons of Hope series. We will be getting another installment in this wonderful and amazing series entitled Forever Safe.
