Imagine a world that an unseen enemy can attack. Imagine a world that you can go anywhere or any time that you wanted. Now imagine a world that nothing is kept a secret but that doesn’t matter because you can leave your own body, causing you to be the ultimate weapon.

In his latest novel, Thomas Locke has done a type of story that has never been done before. Yes, that means that this is something completely original. The fact that it’s original is my favorite part. Trial Run is an exciting adventurous technothriller. I’m not even sure how to describe it because it is such an excellent read.

There are two groups that are battling against each other to figure out who can achieve the ability to ascend or transiting out of their bodies, uncover secrets, and then return back without falling into a coma-like the others. Every character has a story.

Gabriella Speciale is the chief scientist and heads up a group in Campione, Switerzland. They have the most experience and success with the ascending ability. Charlie Hazard and Elizabeth are also keynoted characters that play huge roles.

Resse Clawson also heads up a group, but in the United States. They don’t experience as much success. In fact, at least nine members on this team are in a coma. Will she be able to prove to Washington that her team can be successful before they pull out?

Trent Major is a physics major working on his doctoral with a project in algorithms that undermine the power of computer encryption. This is an intelligence that goes beyond what anyone has seen before. Both teams compete to win him over but for very different purposes. His dreams show him that he has created the ultimate weapon that if used properly can destroy the entire world.

To be honest, I struggled in the beginning because so much information is thrown all at once causing it to be a little hard to follow. There are a lot of technical explanations that aren’t well explained for the average reader. However, don’t let this stop you from reading the book because once you get past all that, it’s an amazing read. It ends with a cliffhanger, but the exciting news is that there will be a sequel. I’ll be anxiously awaiting for the next one! In the meantime, don’t miss out on reading the Prequel, Double-Edge, which you can receive for free at any retail store.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher for my honest review, which I have given. I was not required to write a positive review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.
