It is the second book in the Southold Series. In 1653, Heather Flower is a princess of the Montaukett tribe. Her husband is killed by a rival tribe and she was kidnapped. The handsome Dutch Lieutenant Dirk Van Buren rescues her when she is bound by her captors and left to die.
Struggling with her loss which is so fresh in her mind, Heather Flower resides in the home of her English friends, the Hortons. She must make the difficult decision of whether to stay true to her friend or to follow her heart.
This wasn’t my cup of tea. I love historical romance so I gave this a try. The plot line was an incredible idea, but I felt disconnected from the characters. There were several grammatical errors and DeMarino seemed to have repetitive thoughts. I do believe it could have been a wonderful read so please don’t let my opinion cause you not to give it a chance. If you haven’t read the previous title beforehand, you’re going to want to do so before you read this one.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher for my honest review, which I have given. I was not required to write a positive review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.
